BLT thanks the City of Burien

BLT is pleased to announce that the City of Burien awarded BLT a small grant for BLT’s 2013-14 Season.  These grants while small are very important to BLT.  They make it possible for BLT to take risks that BLT could not otherwise afford to take.  For example, prior grants have allowed BLT to commission a new work, “Frankenstein.”  They have also allowed BLT to hold the Bill and Peggy Hunt Playwrights festival every other year.

Theater requires a number of things, volunteers, a lot of space and money.  With BLT the latter comes from a number of sources, ticket sales, BLT’s fantastic donors (give HERE), and grants.  The City of Burien has, over the years, been one of the funders of grants for the arts and BLT in particular.  During the continuing economic downturn the City has not increased its funding for the arts in a number of years and BLT’s share of those very limited funds has declined slightly, but the City’s support has been consistent and crucial to BLT’s survival and growth.

BLT is very pleased with the City’s support.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.
