When I first met Tuna creators/writers Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard, it was…okay, by “met” I mean “read their work,” but hey, it got your attention, right?!…it was 2001 and I had the opportunity to act in Greater Tuna. I knew then these guys had a great formula: quirky characters, quick costume changes and clever dialogue.
A Tuna Christmas is actually the second in a series of four “Tunas,” preceded by Greater Tuna and followed by Red, White and Tuna and Tuna Does Vegas.
Although I haven’t had the pleasure to work on the latter two “Tunas,” I was able to visit A Tuna Christmas right here at Burien Little Theatre, when I was given the chance to act in it back in 2006.
When the opportunity arose recently to direct A Tuna Christmas here at BLT, it seemed like a natural fit. As an actor then, and Director now, it has been a joy seeing the show progress from both sides of the stage. I thank Maggie and Eric for the opportunity.
If you’ve seen it before, I hope that this time you see things you never have. If you’re seeing for the first time, I hope you enjoy it as much I have in putting a fresh spin on things. So, sit back, relax and enjoy what we think is a heapin’ helpin’ of a good time. “It is, it is…”
