Theater (like much of real life) is often about desire, about looking into people’s hearts and seeing what they want. Those yearnings, and the actions we take to fulfill them, are a large part of what defines us as people. But what happens when we both get what we want AND can’t get what we want? Sr. Cruz’ play takes us down that tricky path, and does so with a delicacy and poetry that makes the journey even more poignant. We hope you enjoy seeing that journey as much as we have enjoyed taking it.
Theater is a collaborative art, and I wouldn’t be much good as a director without this sensational cast and crew. It has been a genuine pleasure to work with so many professional and talented people. I would especially like to thank my producers; Robert Harkins of the Latino Theatre Projects, and Maggie Larrick and Eric Dickman of the Burien Little Theatre. They, and everyone else associated with this production, have worked tirelessly to make this one of the gentlest and most pleasant processes I’ve had as a director. You’re the best, gang!
On a personal note, I’d like to dedicate this show to my biggest fan: my mom, Clementina Martínez Y Armas De Blum. I wish she could see it.
Thank you and enjoy the show.
