Arts are an economic engine – confirmed yet again

“Art and culture is a significant part of the U.S. economy. Not just its contributions of dollar-signideas and creativity to the innovation economy, but also as an important part of the labor force and our country’s GDP,” said NEA Senior Deputy Chairman Joan Shigekawa.

Nearly two million people work in the arts and culture industry which exported about $40 billion in goods and services in 2011.

Another study confirms that arts is an economic engine.  in 2011 arts added more the economy than tourism.
