“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” is a musical comedy presented as a series of vignettes. The play’s tagline is “Everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit.”
Each scene stands on its own, but flow so as to suggest an overall arc of relationships throughout the course of one’s life. For example, a first date scene is before the scenes dealing with marriage, and scenes dealing with marriage come before those dealing with child rearing. There are many characters, but the show is typically done with a comparatively small cast: the original Off-Broadway production used a cast of four, BAT has a cast of 6.
The script has been translated into at least 17 languages, including Hebrew, Spanish, Dutch, Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Portuguese, German, Catalan, Finnish, Mandarin, Norwegian, French and Turkish. BAT’s will be in English.
“I Love You, You’re Perfect Now Change” opens February 13 with a great after party opening night. BAT is planning all sorts of deals and discounts for Valentine weekend, and a couple of very special cocktails. So make your plans now.
